6000 PRODUCT RANGE

Looking for grippers with a high power density or for sensitive, rapid handling? The 6000 series from Zimmer Group offers you flexible solution components for your requirements. Your advantages include:

  • Electric and positionable – for flexible handling
  • Up to 5 million cycles without maintenance – for smooth production
  • Up to 32 workpieces can be stored
  • Integrated position sensing via IO-Link
  • Force version -03 for heavy workpieces; sensitive version -31 for precise gripping

GRIPPING FORCE RETENTION AS STANDARD

Safety in production as standard! Gripper version -03 of the 6000 series is equipped with a self-locking mechanism as standard. This ensures that the workpiece is held securely in the gripper and the safety of people, workpieces and the system in production is still guaranteed even in case of a power failure or emergency stop.

MECHANICAL EMERGENCY RELEASE

The 6000 series has a mechanical emergency release - an important safety feature! The gripper can be opened manually even in the event of a system or power failure. By means of an externally accessible screw, the worm of the self-locking gear can be moved, the gripper opened and workpieces removed. In doing so, the emergency release also ensures improved work safety if, for example, in the event of an emergency stop due to personal injury, the grab must be opened even without power. Maximum safety for man and machine.

PROTECTED FROM EXTERNAL INFLUENCES

Different application areas place a variety of requirements on the components. With the IP54 protection class, they are protected against both the ingress of spray water as well as dust. To further minimize wear on grippers in an adverse environment, the 6000 series can also be equipped with a protector. A mechanical structure on top of the gripper offers protection against external influences, such as water- and oil-based cooling lubricants.

CLEAN ROOM CLASS 4

We guarantee reduced particle emissions for all 6000 series grippers. The entire series is TÜV-certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14644-1, making it suitable for clean room class 4. As a result, the grippers are ideal for sensitive applications in the electrical industry, in the medical field and in a lab environment where clean room classes are required.

SAFE TORGUE OFF FOR MAXIMUM SAFETY

Especially in the area of collaborative robotics, which is frequently employed in labs, the safety of employees is the top priority. That is why the 6000 series features the Safe Torque Off (STO) safety function over a separate line with two safe NC contacts. This means that in an emergency the power supply to the drive is interrupted at the gripper, immediately making it torque-free. Movement is possible again after the contacts close without any restart time. This function is available as an option and corresponds to stop category 0 in accordance with EN 60204-1, offering reliable protection against unintentional injuries.

THE RIGHT GRIPPER FOR YOUR APPLICATION

Sensitive handling of fragile vials? Or powerful gripping of metal workpieces? With the grippers from the 6000 series, we offer you a variant that is coordinated to your requirements. The electric drive and free positionability offer maximum flexibility for a smooth production process at the standard of Industry 4.0.

IO-Link meets digital I/O

The Smart Communication Module (SCM) is a master gateway that is suitable for all IO-Link components. With its two channels, the SCM can control two devices and on a functional level, offers the direct implementation of IO-Link to digital I/O. The module thus makes it possible to integrate IO-Link devices into a digital infrastructure and utilize almost the full extended range of functions of the IO-Link device.

SMART COMMUNICATION MODULE

  • Translates IO-Link to digital inputs and outputs (digital I/O), as well as from digital I/O to IO-Link
  • Very easy control of intelligent IO-Link grippers via 24 V digital I/O
  • Configuration and training is done with the associated intuitive guideZ software
  • Can be used with one or two grippers, depending on the required flexibility
  • Up to 15 different workpieces can be taught in for one gripper

COMPLETE SOLUTION MATCH OR COMPLETE SOLUTION CONVENTIONAL

Whether MATCH end-of-arm ecosystem or conventional - the ready-to-connect communication modules from the Zimmer Group enable a complete solution tailored to your needs. Thanks to the direct integration of a digital infrastructure and interference-free communication from gripper to machine is guaranteed.

Application example

The SCM is installed in the robot control cabinet, where it communicates directly with the robot control system using its digital I/O. On the gripper side, the 5 pins of the IO-Link are connected directly to the SCM, using an external or (where available) internal line.
